Sttow

Browser extension privacy

Effective October 9, 2026 · Extension version 1.5.1

What the extension does

Sttow is a companion to your Sttow server. It saves pages, links, images, and selected text when you use its toolbar, context menu, or keyboard shortcut. An account on a Sttow server is required. Public availability of the extension does not grant access to another person’s library.

Information used for saving

When you save, the extension processes the page URL and title, a selected link or image URL, selected text, and any notes, tags, or lists you add. If you enable full-page archival, bundled capture code reads the page and may fetch page resources to create an archive. These requests go to the relevant websites, and the archive is sent to your configured Sttow server.

Optional saved-page badge

The saved-page badge is off by default. If you enable it, the extension reads visited page URLs and asks your configured Sttow server whether they are already saved. This can occur when tabs become active or finish loading, without a separate save action. Results may be cached locally. Disable the badge in Settings to stop these automatic checks.

Sign-in and browser storage

Email and password sign-in sends those credentials to your configured Sttow server to obtain an API key. The extension does not persist the password. It stores the API key, server address, preferences, and any custom headers in Chrome extension synchronized storage. If Chrome synchronization is enabled, Google may synchronize this information under your browser account. Pending save requests, confirmed receipts, and cached library data use local extension storage.

Where information goes

The extension sends authentication and bookmark data to the Sttow server you select. That server and its hosting providers receive normal request information such as IP address and user agent, and may store or process saved content according to the server’s configuration and policies. Server-side enrichment, backups, and integrations are controlled by the server operator; this extension policy does not replace that operator’s policies. Use a server you trust and HTTPS for remote connections.

Data use

The extension contains no advertising or analytics tracking. It does not sell user data, use it for advertising, or transfer it for creditworthiness or lending decisions. Data is used to provide the bookmarking, library organization, optional badge, and archival features described here.

Retention and your choices

Unfinished saves remain locally available for retry, including after sign-out. Confirmed save receipts are periodically pruned after seven days. Cached library data follows the configured cache policy. Signing out removes the API key from the extension; it does not revoke that key on the server. You can revoke it in your Sttow account settings. Sign-out also does not erase every stored preference or pending save. To remove the extension’s local data, remove the extension or clear its extension storage through Chrome; synchronized copies are governed by Chrome’s synchronization controls. Content already saved on a Sttow server must be deleted through that server. Contact its operator about retention, backups, or account deletion.

Contact

For questions about this extension or this policy, use the developer contact or support details on its Chrome Web Store listing. For data stored on a self-hosted server, contact that server’s operator.
